Avantasia - Discografia.

Avantasia é um projeto musical idealizado por Tobias Sammet, vocalista e principal compositor da banda alemã de heavy metal Edguy. O nome é a junção de duas palavras: Avalon (local místico das lendas do Rei Arthur) e Fantasia (o mundo fictício do livro A História Sem Fim). Trata-se da reunião de integrantes de diversas bandas para a gravação de obras que combinam heavy metal, hard rock, música clássica e ópera. Os dois primeiros álbuns do projeto constituem uma metal opera com uma história épica que mistura ficção, realidade (com personagens históricos), religião e filosofia.

História.

The Scarecrow.

O álbum do Avantasia intitulado The Scarecrow (O Espantalho) foi lançado em 25 de janeiro de 2008. O trabalho foi produzido por Sascha Paeth, também responsável pela gravação das guitarras bases. A bateria ficou a cargo de Eric Singer, as linhas de baixo foram gravadas pelo próprio Tobias e os arranjos orquestrais foram produzidos por Michael "Miro" Rodenberg.

Apesar de ser um álbum conceitual, The Scarecrow não é uma sequência direta dos dois trabalhos anteriores.

Os vocalistas que participam do disco são Jørn Lande (Masterplan), Bob Catley (Magnum), Roy Khan (Kamelot), Alice Cooper, Oliver Hartmann (ex-At Vance), Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween) e Amanda Somerville (Aina, Epica). As guitarras contam com contribuições de Rudolf Schenker (Scorpions), Kai Hansen e Henjo Richter (ambos do Gamma Ray).

Em 2009, Tobias Sammet anunciou em seu site oficial que a continuação de The Scarecrow seria lançada em dois álbuns simultâneos: The Wicked Symphony e Angel of Babylon, ambos lançados em 3 de abril de 2010. Tobias também confirmou diversos convidados: os bateristas Eric Singer, Alex Holzwarth e Felix Bohnke; os tecladistas Jens Johansson (Stratovarius), Simon Oberender e Miro Rodenberg; além dos vocalistas Michael Kiske, Bob Catley, Jørn Lande, Tim "Ripper" Owens, Klaus Meine, Russell Allen, Andre Matos (ex-Angra), Ralf Zdiarstek, Cloudy Yang e Jon Oliva. As guitarras ficaram com Sascha Paeth, Oliver Hartmann, Bruce Kulick e Henjo Richter. As linhas de baixo foram gravadas novamente por Tobias.

The Mystery of Time, The Mystery World Tour e hiato, 2013-2014.

Em 2012, Tobias anunciou o início dos trabalhos em um novo álbum do projeto, intitulado The Mystery of Time, lançado em março de 2013.

A maior turnê da história do Avantasia ocorreu entre abril e agosto de 2013, englobando 30 shows solo e sete apresentações como atração principal em festivais europeus, além de um festival no Canadá e shows de três horas de duração na América do Sul, Japão, Rússia, Alemanha, Suíça, Itália e Holanda.

Faltando apenas duas datas para o encerramento da turnê, Tobias declarou à imprensa que o Avantasia seria uma das atrações principais do Wacken Open Air de 2014, sugerindo que aquele show seria a despedida do projeto, sem atividades planejadas para o futuro próximo:

"Não haverá mais atividades do Avantasia; será apenas este show. Posso voltar com uma ideia e segui-la em algum momento do futuro distante. Não diria que é um adeus definitivo desta vez, mas não tenho ideia de quando, onde, com quem ou como isso soaria e pareceria caso voltássemos a fazer algo em alguns anos. Então, garantam seus ingressos para o Wacken 2014, pois será a última chance de nos ver, se não para sempre, ao menos por vários anos."

Ghostlights, Ghostlights World Tour e Desdobramentos, 2014 - Presente.

Em entrevista concedida em maio de 2014 sobre o álbum Space Police: Defenders of the Crown, do Edguy, Tobias afirmou que a história de The Mystery of Time exigia uma sequência. Em julho de 2015, confirmou a continuação por meio da página oficial do Avantasia no Facebook: o novo álbum, intitulado Ghostlights, foi lançado em janeiro de 2016, seguido por uma turnê mundial. Assim como em 2014, Tobias voltou a indicar que a Ghostlights World Tour poderia marcar uma longa pausa do projeto:

"Não acredito que faremos outra turnê nos próximos três, quatro ou cinco anos; há muitas pessoas envolvidas com compromissos individuais. Esta turnê será a última oportunidade em muito tempo para nos ver ao vivo."

"Também não tenho planos de lançar outro álbum do Avantasia em um futuro próximo. Não cometerei o erro de dizer que acabou definitivamente, mas... acho que não haverá outro disco nos próximos cinco anos. Duvido muito.
