Blodwyn Pig foi uma banda britânica de blues rock, fundada em 1968 pelo guitarrista, vocalista e compositor Mick Abrahams.
Abrahams deixou o Jethro Tull após o lançamento do álbum de estreia, This Was devido um desentendimento com o vocalista do Tull, Ian Anderson, sobre a direção da banda. Ele formou o Blodwyn Pig com Jack Lancaster (saxofone e flauta), Andy Pyle (baixo) e Ron Berg (bateria).
Com Abrahams e Lancaster a frente, o Blodwyn Pig gravou dois álbuns, Ahead Rings Out em 1969 e Getting to This em 1970. Ambos alcançaram o Top 10 da parada de álbuns do Reino Unido e entraram nas paradas do Canadá e dos Estados Unidos. Ahead Rings Out apresentou uma pegada mais jazzística no blues rock pesado que formava o núcleo da banda, enraizado na cena britânica de rhythm and blues dos anos 1960, da qual surgiram grupos como The Yardbirds, Free e eventualmente o Led Zeppelin. O saxofonista e cantor Lancaster (que frequentemente tocava dois instrumentos de sopro simultaneamente, como seu ídolo Rahsaan Roland Kirk), era pelo menos tão proeminente na mixagem quanto Abrahams, alguns críticos acharam que esse contraste impulsionou a banda em direção a um som mais livre e experimental no segundo álbum.
O single "Summer Day" não entrou nas paradas musicais. No entanto, o quarteto se tornou uma espécie de favorito no circuito de shows underground.
Abrahams deixou a banda e mais tarde formou outra banda e trabalhou solo. O ex- guitarrista do Yes e futuro guitarrista do Flash, Peter Banks, se tornou um dos vários guitarristas, incluindo Larry Wallis que sucederam Abrahams depois que ele saiu.
Em grande parte, devido a desilusão de Abrahams com o lado comercial da música, o Blodwyn Pig acabou se tornando um projeto intermitente, Lancaster em certo momento se tornou produtor musical e Pyle eventualmente se juntou ao Savoy Brown e ao The Kinks. Ao longo dos anos desde sua formação original, o Blodwyn Pig se reformulou várias vezes, geralmente com Abrahams e Lancaster liderando o grupo. A banda gravou mais dois álbuns na década de 1990.
