Climax Blues Band - Discografia.

Climax Blues Band (originalmente conhecido como The Climax Chicago Blues Band) é uma banda britânica de blues rock. A banda foi formada em Stafford, Inglaterra, em 1967 pelo vocalista e harmônica/gaitista Colin Cooper, o guitarrista e vocalista Pete Haycock, o guitarrista, o baixista e tecladista Richard Jones, o baterista George Newsome e o tecladista Arthur Wood.

Em 1972, o grupo encurtou seu nome para Climax Blues Band, sob pressão da banda americana Chicago. A banda lançou pelo menos 18 álbuns e teve um hit Top 10 no Reino Unido com Couldn't Get It Right. Essa música e I Love You também foram hits nos Estados Unidos, Couldn't Get It Right alcançou a 3ª posição na Billboard Hot 100 em 1977 e I Love You alcançou o 12º lugar em 1981.

Jones deixou o grupo em 1969 e Holt começou a tocar baixo. A banda trocou de selo e assinou com a Harvest Records em 1970 e os discos subsequentes tiveram um som mais orientado para o rock. John Cuffley substituiu Newsome em 1971.

Os álbuns que se destacam lançados anos 1970 são, FM / Live de 1973, um conjunto duplo gravado em um concerto em Nova York e os álbuns de estúdio Stamp Album de 1975 e Gold Plated de 1976, apresentando o single Couldn't Obtê-lo direito. Na década de 1970, os shows da banda nos EUA foram assistidos por até 20.000 pessoas. Em 1981 a banda mudou o estilo para um som mais pop-rock. Holt e Cuffley saíram em 1983.

O álbum Sample And Hold foi gravado para a Virgin Records em 1983 por Haycock, Cooper e Glover, com uma seção rítmica composta pelos músicos de sessão Dave Marquee e Henry Spinetti. Um álbum de acompanhamento estava em andamento, mas Cooper desistiu, citando razões pessoais. Haycock passou a gravar vários projetos solo, o primeiro dos quais foi o álbum Total Climax com sua banda, Climax de Pete Haycock. Essa banda excursionou extensivamente pela Europa, incluindo a Alemanha Oriental comunista e conduziu uma turnê bem recebida na Austrália. Depois disso, Haycock foi convidado por seu ex-gerente da Climax Blues Band, Miles Copeland, para gravar um álbum instrumental, Guitar And Son e o álbum ao vivo Night Of The Guitars da turnê de mesmo nome para a I.R.S. Depois dessa turnê, Haycock se juntou ao guitarrista Steve Hunter e ao ex-colega de banda do Climax Blues, Derek Holt para gravar o álbum H Factor. Mais tarde ele foi recrutado por Bev Bevan para se tornar membro da Electric Light Orchestra Part II, gravou e fez turnê com esse grupo a partir de 1990. Ele também começou sua carreira fazendo trilhas sonoras, liderando a trilha sonora de Hans Zimmer para Thelma e Louise. Ele também se apresentou nas turnês Night of the Guitars, que incluíram Holt no baixo, teclados e vocais ocasionais.

Holt escreveu I Love You, um dos maiores sucessos da banda Climax Blues. Está incluído no álbum duplo Climax Blues Band, 25 Years 1968-1993, lançado pela gravadora alemã Repertoire em 1993. I Love You fez sucesso nas rádios por vários anos nos EUA.

Em 1985, Cooper e Glover recrutaram o guitarrista Lester Hunt, o baterista Roy Adams e o membro original Derek Holt para gravar o álbum Drastic Steps e esta formação fez uma turnê de apoio ao álbum no Reino Unido, Europa e América. A nova formação logo se estabeleceu com Cooper, Glover, Hunt, Adams e Neil Simpson no início dos anos 90, lançando o álbum ao vivo Blues do Attic em 1993 e Big Blues: The Songs Of Willie Dixon em 2003.

Cooper morreu de câncer aos 69 anos em julho de 2008. Ele deixa sua esposa e dois filhos. Ele queria que a banda continuasse, já que os outros músicos estavam tocando há muito tempo, Glover desde 1980, Adams e Hunt desde 1985 e Simpson desde 1991. Cooper foi substituído pelo cantor e saxofonista e gaitista Johnny Pugh, que se aposentou em 2012 e foi substituído pelo vocalista Graham Dee e pelo saxofonista Chris Aldridge. Essa formação continuou a turnê.

Um novo álbum de estúdio, Hands Of Time foi lançado em 2019.

Em 2022, Lester Hunt anunciou sua aposentadoria da banda após 36 anos por motivos de saúde e seu amigo Dan Machin, que já o substituía em turnê, se tornou o guitarrista permanente do Climax.

Scott Ralph, que havia trabalhado com uma vasta gama de artistas, incluindo Robbie Williams, Engelbert Humperdinck, Nile Rodgers e Michael Bublé, se juntou a banda em 2023, substituindo Graham Dee como vocalista principal.
