Secret Service é uma banda pop e pop rock sueca formada em Estocolmo em 1979. No mesmo ano, Ola Håkansson, ex-vocalista do Ola & The Janglers e então gerente editorial da Sonet Records, se juntou-se a Tim Norell e Ulf Wahlberg como Ola+3 para se apresentar no Melodifestivalen de 1979, um concurso que classificava a Suécia para o Festival Eurovisão da Canção. Ola+3 não venceu, mas os membros decidiram continuar trabalhando juntos e gravaram um LP como Ola+3. Além de Ola Håkansson (vocal), Tim Norell e Ulf Wahlberg (teclados), a formação original também incluía Tonny Lindberg (guitarras), Leif Paulsen (baixo) e Leif Johansson (bateria). Norell, que junto com o letrista Björn Håkansson escreveu a maioria das músicas da banda, mas nunca apareceu com eles no palco ou nas fotos da banda.
A segunda música desse LP sueco, "Oh Susie (Bara vi två vet)", foi lançada como single com letra em inglês e a banda mudou seu nome para Secret Service. "Oh Susie" alcançou o primeiro lugar na Suécia e após ser tocada pela Rádio Luxemburgo, entrou nas paradas de diversos países ao redor do mundo, incluindo América do Sul e Austrália. Só na Alemanha, vendeu um milhão de cópias e Wahlberg afirmou em 2017 que "Oh Susie" chegou ao primeiro lugar em 29 países. Seu single seguinte, "Ten O'Clock Postman", também ganhou disco de ouro na Suécia e alcançou o top 5 na Alemanha e no Japão.
Após o sucesso do single com influências de soca, "Ye-Si-Ca" na Colômbia, a banda partiu para uma turnê promocional de duas semanas pelo continente sul-americano.
O Secret Service incorporou sintetizadores ao seu som, eles tinham a primeira máquina LinnDrum que tinha acabado de chegar na Suécia, e mais sucessos se seguiram, com seu single synthpop, "Flash in the Night", lançado em dezembro de 1981, alcançando as paradas musicais em toda a Europa continental. Em maio de 1982, o Secret Service lançou seu terceiro álbum Cutting Corners e seu primeiro álbum Greatest Hits também foi lançado no mesmo ano.
O álbum Jupiter Sign, lançado em 1984, marcou uma nova direção para a banda, abandonando os sintetizadores e passando a utilizar novas tecnologias como samples e batidas sequenciadas. Ola Håkansson também assumiu a composição das letras sob o pseudônimo de Oson.
Com o álbum When The Night Closes In e o single "Night City", a banda ajudou a lançar o som do movimento Hi-NRG. When the Night Closes In também foi o último álbum gravado com a formação original. Jonas Frick dirigiu um vídeo promocional de 18 minutos apresentando 6 das músicas.
Em 1986, Ola Håkansson lançou um dueto com a ex-integrante do ABBA, Agnetha Fältskog, "The Way You Are", que ganhou disco de ouro na Suécia. Em 1987, Håkansson, Norell e Wahlberg lançaram Aux Deux Magots, seu último álbum como Secret Service. Os novos membros foram o multi-instrumentista Anders Hansson e o baixista Mats A. Lindberg. Håkansson perdeu o interesse em ser o vocalista e líder da banda e se tornou parceiro de Norell com Alexander Bard do Army of Lovers.
Em 1992, Håkansson e seus associados estabeleceram a Stockholm Records como uma joint venture com a PolyGram.
Em 2012, o Secret Service lançou The Lost Box, um álbum com músicas já gravadas, inéditas e esquecidas dos anos 1980 e início dos anos 1990, como "Different" e "Satellites".
Norell, Wahlberg, Hansson e Lindberg começaram fazer turnês como Secret Service, principalmente na Rússia, com um novo vocalista, Mikael Erlandsson. Mais tarde, foi Johan Becker quem assumiu o microfone. Eles também lançaram um single, Secret Mission em 2020. Em 18 de novembro de 2022, um novo álbum com material inédito foi lançado.
